Lisbon

Discover the best of Lisbon on this scenic and culturally rich guided excursion.  Your English speaking driver/guide will meet you directly at the port for a comfortable and memorable day in a mini van, with a maximum of 7 passengers, to explore the city's most iconic landmarks.  Our adventure will begin at the famous Belem Tower, one of Lisbon's most photographed landmarks.  From the exterior only, you will be able to capture stunning photos of this UNESCO World Heritage Site, which once guarded the entrance to the city's harbor.  From the Belem Tower, we will make a short walk along the waterfront promenade to the impressive Monument of the Discoveries, honoring Portugal's Age of Exploration.  While there, take a moment to admire the intricate sculptures and beautiful river views.  Rejoining our driver, we'll make the short drive to the Jeronimos Monastery.  Here we will visit the magnificent church (no entry to the Monastery), which is know for its stunning architecture.

A trip to Lisbon wouldn't be complete without sampling its iconic custard tarts.  Just a few short steps for the Monastery, we'll stop at the world-famous Pasteis de Belem bakery, where you'll have the chance to try these delicious pastries (at your own expense).  Next our driver will take us back to the heart of the city to Lisbon's Instagram famous Pink Street - a vibrant, colorful area perfect for photos and soaking in the city's modern, artistic vibe.  We will continue on to the Rossio neighborhood, a lively area filled with cafes, shops, and historic architecture.  Here you will enjoy free time for lunch (at your own expense) at one of the local restaurants and browse for souvenirs.

After lunch, we will join our driver and drive past the striking Elevador de Santa Justa and stop at the Praca do Comercio, Lisbon's grand riverside square, for a few minutes to admire and photograph this elegant landmark.  We will continue through the charming Bairro Alto neighborhood on our way to the Sao  Jorge Castle (St. George's Castle).   For those that pre-purchase the entry ticket to the Castle: Enjoy approximately 1 hour of free time to explore the castle grounds, offering panoramic views of Lisbon and a chance to spot the famous white peacocks.  For those that don't purchase the entry tickets to the Castle:  Enjoy approximately 1 hour of free time to relax at a cafe, shop in the surrounding area or just take in the views.  The excursion will conclude with a comfortable transfer back to the ship, filled with memories of Lisbon's history, flavors and beauty.
