EXCURSION DESCRIPTION

Begin your day with an approximate one-hour scenic drive through the Spanish countryside in a private coach from La Coruña to Santiago de Compostela. Upon arrival, meet your official English-speaking guide for a walking tour lasting about 60 minutes.  During the tour, explore key historical and cultural highlights including:

  • The House of Troya, a charming traditional building linked to local legends

  • The intricate facades of the Monastery of San Martín Pinario

  • Stroll along the vibrant streets of Franco, Raina, and Vallar

The highlight of the tour will be the magnificent facade of the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela and the surrounding plazas, which form the heart of the city.  Santiago de Compostela is famously the final resting place of St. James the Apostle and the endpoint of the renowned pilgrimage route known as the Camino de Santiago, which pilgrims travel from various starting points across Europe, walking many miles (sometimes walking over 600 miles) to reach this sacred site.  It will not be uncommon to see backpackers arriving to the square in front of the church and kiss the ground after making the very long journey.  After the guided tour, enjoy some free time to independently explore the cathedral’s nave (entrance to the nave is free; however, tickets to the Museums, Roofs, Pórtico de la Gloria, Cloister, and Treasury are not included). You’ll also have the opportunity to shop along the quaint streets nearby and grab a bite to eat. Upon your return to La Coruña, enjoy a panoramic coach tour along the seaside promenade, including a photo stop at the iconic Tower of Hercules, a Roman lighthouse and UNESCO World Heritage site, before returning to your ship.

We fell in love with Brian within the first 20 seconds. His excursions were well planned extremely well executed, even when monkey wrenches were thrown into the mix. Brian is professional, funny and full of energy that is just infectious! My suggestion book with him book early because the word is out that he is the bomb!! That is, as long as you’re not taking a seat away from me!

As novice international travelers, booking excursions with Brian Travels was one of the best decisions my husband and I made. Brian took the time to meet with us, and answer questions we had before we ever left home. We felt confident and secure in knowing that his tours would be intimate, fun and cover a lot of what we wanted to see. If you are looking for a great adventure with great people, do not hesitate to book with Brian Travels.
