EXCURSION DESCRIPTION
A Brian Travels Exclusive Experience:
Discover the charm of Bordeaux and the richness of French winemaking on this exclusive excursion, featuring a visit to a regional château not included on the ship tours. This specially curated experience includes a wine tasting paired with locally made artisanal chocolates. Your day begins with convenient port pick-up, followed by a scenic two-hour drive through the famed Médoc wine region, home to some of France’s most prestigious vineyards. Upon arrival in Bordeaux (a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2007) you’ll have approximately two hours of free time to explore at your leisure. Suggested highlights include:
-
Place des Quinconces – One of the largest squares in Europe
-
Cathédrale Saint-André – A breathtaking Gothic cathedral
-
Place de la Bourse – Iconic riverside square with the famous water mirror
-
Pont de Pierre – The city’s historic stone bridge
-
Grand Théâtre de Bordeaux – A neoclassical architectural gem
-
Grosse Cloche – One of the oldest belfries in France
Take your free time to sightsee, shop, or enjoy lunch at a local café (at your own expense). Often called "Little Paris," Bordeaux offers an elegant blend of history, culture, and sophistication. Afterward, travel to a historic family-owned château, that can trace its original roots back to the 14th century. This estate spans 30 hectares and produces approximately 150,000 bottles of wine each year from traditional Bordeaux varietals: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot. Enjoy a guided one-hour tour of the estate, including the cellar and vat room, followed by a wine tasting of two estate wines, each expertly paired with locally produced chocolates from a Bordeaux chocolatier. The tasting concludes with an additional tasting of wine for you to savor, and a complimentary bottle of wine for each person above the age of 21 (photo ID required). Before returning to the port, you’ll have time to explore the château's on-site boutique, featuring a full selection of estate wines and local products from nearby farms—an ideal chance to bring a taste of Bordeaux home with you. Your memorable day concludes with comfortable return transportation to the port.

We fell in love with Brian within the first 20 seconds. His excursions were well planned extremely well executed, even when monkey wrenches were thrown into the mix. Brian is professional, funny and full of energy that is just infectious! My suggestion book with him book early because the word is out that he is the bomb!! That is, as long as you’re not taking a seat away from me!

As novice international travelers, booking excursions with Brian Travels was one of the best decisions my husband and I made. Brian took the time to meet with us, and answer questions we had before we ever left home. We felt confident and secure in knowing that his tours would be intimate, fun and cover a lot of what we wanted to see. If you are looking for a great adventure with great people, do not hesitate to book with Brian Travels.
