THE ITINERARY

BOARD YOUR FLIGHT TO CAPETOWN

Arrive in Capetown.  BEWARE:  Flights to Capetown can arrive 2 days after departure with layovers. I HIGHLY recommend that you arrive in Capetown at least 1 day prior to get acclimated.  I can help with hotel add-ons.

WEDNESDAY - APRIL 28, 2027
TRAVEL DAY

THURSDAY - APRIL 29, 2027
HIGHLIGHTS OF CAPETOWN

  • Hotel pick up / drop off

  • Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden (entrance ticket included)

  • Bird & Monkey sanctuary (entrance tickets included)

  • Hout Bay stop for lunch (at your own expense)

  • Scenic coastal drive

  • Sunset from Signal Hill

Traveling by private vehicle, we will start this day with a 90-minute visit to the world-renowned Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden, located on the eastern slopes of Table Mountain. Enjoy free time to explore the lush gardens, diverse plant species, and tranquil walking paths. Entrance tickets to Kirstenbosch are included.  Next, travel to the Bird & Monkey Sanctuary, where you will spend 60 minutes discovering a variety of exotic and indigenous bird and primate species in a naturalistic environment.  Admission to the sanctuary is included.  Afterwards, we will head to the scenic Hout Bay for 90 minutes, where you can enjoy a relaxed seaside lunch at the wharf or explore the market stalls along the waterfront.  Lunch is at your own expense.

Following lunch, we make our way to the iconic Table Mountain, where you'll ascend via the aerial cable car for panoramic views of Cape Town and the surrounding coastline. Cable car tickets are included. Spend time at the summit taking in the breathtaking vistas before descending.  Conclude the day with a serene drive up to Signal Hill, where you’ll enjoy a stunning sunset view over Cape Town, the ocean, and Table Mountain—perfect for memorable photos and quiet reflection.

FRIDAY - APRIL 30, 2027
THE WINE COUNTRY OF CAPETOWN

  • Hotel pick up / drop off

  • Travel via private vehicle from  Capetown through the picturesque wine regions

  • Visit local wineries with wine tastings (tastings included - non alcoholic options available

  • Ride the Franschhoek Wine Tram to visit additional wineries and tastings​

  • Free time to shop explore the quaint town of Franschhoek

 

Embark on a scenic journey through the Cape Winelands, starting with a visit to a renowned winery where you'll enjoy a guided cellar tour and a curated wine tasting, accompanied by a selection of artisanal snacks.

Next, travel to the charming town of Franschhoek, known for its French heritage and boutique shopping. You'll have one hour of free time to explore the quaint streets, local galleries, and specialty shops at your own pace.  Our second wine tasting takes place at another distinguished estate, where you’ll also have the opportunity to enjoy lunch at the winery restaurant (at your own expense), surrounded by breathtaking vineyard views.  After lunch, board the famous Franschhoek Wine Tram for a relaxed ride through the vineyards, stopping at two additional wineries for further tastings.

SATURDAY - MAY 1, 2027
CAPE OF GOOD HOPE & THE AFRICAN PENGUINS

  • Hotel pick up / drop off

  • Travel via private vehicle from Capetown to Cape Point / Cape of Good Hope

  • Visit an Ostrich farm

  • Ride the tram at Cape Point up to the lighthouse and lookout (tram ticket included)​

  • Photo stop at the Cape of Good Hope sign

  • Free time at Simon's Town to view the African penguins (entrance ticket included)

Experience the breathtaking beauty of Cape Town’s southern coastline on this scenic full-day excursion.

Your journey begins with a leisurely drive along the stunning Atlantic Seaboard, with a photo stop to admire the iconic Twelve Apostles mountain range — a perfect opportunity to capture this dramatic natural landmark.  Continue along the world-renowned Chapman’s Peak Drive, one of the most scenic coastal roads in the world, offering awe-inspiring views of the ocean and cliffs.  Next, we head to Cape Point within the Table Mountain National Park. Here, you’ll have ample time to explore, enjoy lunch at your leisure (not included), and ride the Flying Dutchman Funicular, with tickets included, to visit the historic lighthouse and take in panoramic views from the top of the Cape Peninsula.  Following Cape Point, we’ll make a brief stop at the Cape of Good Hope for a memorable photo opportunity at the famous sign.  Our final highlight is a visit to Simon’s Town, home to the endangered African penguins at Boulders Beach. Entrance tickets are included, and you’ll have approximately 90 minutes of free time to explore, relax, and enjoy the beach and charming surroundings.  This well-paced excursion offers a perfect balance of natural wonders, photo opportunities, and personal time, making for an unforgettable day on the Cape Peninsula.

SUNDAY - MAY 2, 2027 - FREE DAY IN CAPETOWN

​Welcome to Capetown!  Situated on the southern tip of Africa, this area is  known for its mixture of history and modern culture.  Spend this free day sleeping in and relaxing for your upcoming safari days, or venture out on your own and explore more of Capetown.

MONDAY - MAY 3, 2027- FLY TO KRUGER NATIONAL PARK

Embark on three unforgettable private safari days through the iconic Kruger National Park, which is one of Africa’s premier wildlife destinations.  Our experience will be exclusively tailored to our group, ensuring an exceptional and personalized adventure.  Established in 1898 as the Sabie Game Reserve and officially declared a national park in 1926, Kruger is one of the oldest and largest national parks in Africa. Spanning nearly 20,000 square kilometers, it is a cornerstone of South African conservation and home to an astonishing array of biodiversity.  Kruger’s landscapes range from arid scrubland and rolling plains to lush riverbanks and dense thickets. These diverse ecosystems create a mosaic of habitats that support a wide variety of plant and animal life. The scenery shifts dramatically as you travel, offering a truly immersive and ever-changing safari experience.  Alongside the Big Five, expect to encounter cheetahs, hyenas, wildebeest, warthogs, kudu, impalas, and more. Your guide will share insights into animal behavior, tracking techniques, and the complex web of life that defines this unique wilderness.

​The trip with Brian comes to an end.  You will fly as a group back to Capetown where you can continue the trip on your own or fly home from Capetown.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS

  • Local currency is the South African Rand

  • Pack weather-appropriate clothing, and comfortable walking shoes 

  • Pack an electric power adapter and converter

  • Consult your doctor for any shots you may need  (CVS was also helpful for my trip)

  • Consider packing:

    • Cash (Rand) – credit cards may/may not be accepted

    • Portable battery – access to outlets for recharging cannot be guaranteed when we are on our excursions.
